The RAM Structural System was developed with one primary goal in mind… to help structural engineers increase their productivity so that they can produce better designs, faster. By providing powerful tools that are automated, integrated, and a complete alternative to traditional design methods, the RAM Structural System has accomplished this goal.
The RAM Structural System is currently increasing the productivity of thousands of engineers worldwide in the design of a wide variety of institutional, commercial, retail, residential and industrial building structures, from one story buildings to some of the tallest structures in the world.
Used by thousands of design firms, steel fabricators, educators, and others; from one-person firms to some of the largest E&C companies in the world, the RAM Structural System is helping to redefine how engineers work!
RAM allows us to spend more time on the detailing and coordination and less on the engineering thereby allowing us to produce a more detailed and hence a better product.
- Steve Devine, Structural Engineer, Bala Consulting |
Unlike most structural software packages that solve only specific and isolated problems, the RAM Structural System is a fully integrated solution. It enhances your work every step of the way, integrating gravity and lateral analysis and design with the creation of detailed and usable CAD drawings.
Consider the time you spend on these tasks in your office:
- Comparing alternative framing systems and providing accurate conceptual designs,
- Calculating and distributing gravity and lateral loads and reducing live loads, including wind and seismic loads per IBC 2000, UBC, BOCA, SBC, ASCE7, Canadian, British and Eurocodes,
- Composite and noncomposite steel design and joist selection,
- Concrete Design per ACI including full skip loading analysis of the floor systems,
- Designing your foundations,
- Developing CAD drawings for floor framing plans, beam and column schedules, frame elevations, and foundation plans,
- Calculating masses and Rho factors for seismic design,
- Designing steel connections,
- And keeping up with project changes…
We’ve been able to help our customers minimize this time,
improve their productivity and profitability.
RAM helped a ton by giving us a quick response time. As things changed, we were able to change our models and make it current with that day. We can come back in no time and have a whole floor re-analyzed for new loads. Our clients were very impressed with our quick response.
– Tim Lack, Martin/Martin, Wheat Ridge CO |
The RAM Structural System exemplifies our focus as a company. To first and foremost increase the productivity of our customers.
Product Overview
The RAM Structural System was specifically created for building designers. It has been tailored to automate many of the time consuming tasks that you must perform to successfully complete projects on time and on budget. It also allows you to accommodate changes without going though the same detailed processes over and over.
With RAM, we could change loads, brace locations and brace configurations on the fly. For this job, we saved 200 and 150 hours on engineering and drafting respectively, resulting in a $15,000 cost reduction. And we are able to continue to accommodate ongoing tenant modifications with very reasonable effort
– Jeff Borger, Jirsa-Hedrick, Denver, CO |
All modules of the RAM Structural System work off of one common database, from which analysis, design and drafting is performed. Modules are available for both steel and concrete design for a variety of design codes, as well as Foundation Design per ACI-318 or BS8110. Any changes automatically make their way throughout the system to help you produce new designs and drawings quickly.
